The ORNL ion-atom merged-beams apparatus has measured benchmark electron capture cross sections for the multicharged ion N³⁺ on H(and D) from 0.9 eV/u to 1381 eV/u (M. S. Huq, C. C. Havener, and R. A. Phaneuf, Physical Review A, 40 1811 (1989)). Good agreement is shown with existing experimental data and theoretical calculations. These measurements may be slightly high due to contribution for H Rydbergs.
